Controls Engineer

POSITION DESCRIPTION:
Design electrical control circuits for custom equipment including schematics, panel layouts, backplane layouts, PLC programs, and HMI interface programs. Ability to design hydraulic and /or pneumatic circuits would be a plus. Directly oversee all assigned equipment controls design & build projects through their completion. Provide engineering support to the Project Engineers as well as the machine build staff. Communicate and manage outside vendors for the successful, on-time completion of projects. Provide pro-active communication and customer contact as necessary to ensure that a high-value solution is provided to meet the application requirements.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

• Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience
• Previous controls design experience
• Ability to program full family of Allen Bradley PLC’s including MicroLogix, SLC500,
CompactLogix, and ControlLogix.
• Ability to program full family of Allen Bradley HMI’s including PanelView and PanelView Plus.
• Attention to detail and work accuracy
• Knowledge of NEMA standards, NEC Code, IP standards, intrinsically safe standards, and explosion proof or hazardous environment standards.
• Microsoft Office literate – Excel, Word, Outlook
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Willingness and ability to work in a fast-paced, multiple-project environment
• Previous AutoCAD experience desirable but not mandatory
• Previous project management experience desirable but not mandatory
